What is The Citizenship Academy?
The course is split into 8 one day modules
They include talks, workshops, group activities and a visit to the Scottish Parliament
Courses are generally run in the day time and weekly however there is flexibility to change the times depending on the needs of the group.
Once they begin the course, participants are be introduced to a range of tools to enable them to become active citizens, engaged in public life both locally and nationally. The project aims to increase the confidence and capacity of participants, so that they can better influence and control the decisions that affect their lives.
The course focuses on the following areas:
Course is delivered in a variety of different forms including research activities, interviewing external speakers, contacting decision makers and a visit to the Scottish Parliament. Participants have self study tasks to complete between sessions and additional support is provided through the interactive website, by phone and support sessions.
Over the three year period the Academy will work with 30 disabled people.
The Academy will be delivered in different regions across Scotland.

Once participants have completed the Academy we hope that they will choose to become part of the Graduates Programme. The Graduates Programme will establish a network with the aims of:
